I've been reading a lot of fairy tales since I got my kindle, and I must say that this is one of the best books of fairy tales I've found. I think the stories were put down in French and then translated into English, and somewhere along the line they were probably polished or otherwise altered from the raw state of many fairy tales--but unlike some collections, these stories don't lose anything from the retelling.There was a scanning glitch that my version (the free one) had wherein all the quote, single quote and apostrophe marks were turned into question mark boxes (as well as a few other characters here and there). I've encountered this problem with other free kindle books, so it didn't really bother me, but if it's going to be a problem for you I'd recommend checking the non-free versions to see if one of them has proper formatting (and illustrations?--sometimes they do) because this book is entirely worth a dollar or two. (You might also check the free/out-of-copyright sites like Google docs for a copy if 'free' is your price)

Great to work with.
Good
Slavic on Mother's side. (Slovak actually) so this was a gimme and the stories are really informatic.
Good read to see what people thought about back in the day i enjoed the read i had got it to read to my kids at night but some of the stuff in the book i did not feel was what i wanted them to learn but i enjoyed it
The first half is full of stories I hadn't read before, and while it ended with some of the old reliables, they were all told with an unfamiliar twist. Not too Anglicized either. Enjoy
